In school we have four Houses, when a pupil joins school they will be allocated to a School House. We come together at certain points in the school year for events such as assemblies, sports day and house day where children will join together in their House. House Captains are chosen every year from our P7 year group and will lead and support the House when taking part in different activities.
Knockhall is named after Knockhall Castle, which was built in 1565. The castle remains as a ruin to this day and is designated as a scheduled monument. This house is represented by the colour RED.
Holyrood Chapel which is located on the main street in Newburgh was once the site of the school and was once known as Newburgh Mathers Primary School. The original site of Holyrood chapel was located by the Foveran burn where it meets the river Ythan. This house is represented by the colour BLUE.
The Ythan River travels through Newburgh, it is a big flowing river where people have fished for over 100 years. The reason Ythan is green because of the thick layer of algae that was on the river when they were building the houses. This house is represented by the colour GREEN.
The village of Forvie by Newburgh is at the mouth of the river Ythan. Forvie National Nature Reserve (NNR) boasts Britain's fifth largest dune system and is rich in wildlife. It is home to Scotlands biggest mainland tern/black headed gull colony, significant eider duck population, and the UKs largest seal haul-out at the estuary mouth. The seal and tern feature in our school badge. This house is represented by the colour YELLOW.
